ANCWL FS Console Bereaved Family

The ANC Women’s League Free State led by Mangaung Metro Executive Mayor Olly Mlamleli on Wednesday paid a visit to a family in Phahameng Ward 3 that lost their nine-year-old daughter during flush floods last week.

Chidima Mirwebi went out to play at Radibata Dam last Friday together with her sibling and friend, following the heavy rains that pounded the area.

Unfortunately for the trio, the floods were too strong and swept them away.

An unknown elderly fisherman was able to rescue only two of the girls and took them out of the dam in time but it was too late for Chidima as she had already drowned.

The ANC Women’s League held a prayer session at the family’s house to support and comfort them.

“My condolences to the family of Mirwebi for your loss. May the Almighty be with you through this difficult time. As a mother I can only imagine your pain because we as parents –  when we raise our children – we have expectations for them as they grow.

“However, when God has a plan for our loved ones there is nothing that we can change because he is the Alpha and Omega. May the Almighty give you strength and bandage your wounds for He is the only one who can ease our pains”, noted Mlamleli.

She added, the ANC and its Women’s League would support the Mirwebi family until the funeral tomorrow (Sat) to ensure that the deceased gets a dignified burial.

Mlamleli also donated groceries to the family to assist with preparations for the funeral.
