Leeto has faith in FS Commonwealth athletes
Free State sports, arts, culture and recreation MEC Mathabo Leeto trusts that the Free State athletes that will be representing South Africa at the Commonwealth Games that kicked off in Glasgow on Wednesday will do the country proud.
Twelve athletes from the Free State will be flying the country’s flag high as part of the South African team which comprises 155 athletes who will compete in 15 sporting codes. Leeto wished the group well in their individual codes and said she believes they will fly the country’s flag high.
“I want to take this opportunity to wish our athletes the best of luck at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. May they do the country and the province proud by representing us well.”
The 12 Free State athletes that will compete at the event are: Wayde van Niekerk, Elsie de Villiers, Willem Viljoen, Adele Niemand, Karla Mostert, Juanelie Meijer, Johan Cronje, Josephus Jacobs, Kifiloe Tsotetsi, Maryka Holtzhausen, Frederik Coetzee and Kate Roberts.
