Copa Coca-Cola fever grips Bloem

The Copa Coca-Cola national finals, taking place at the Tempe Stadium this weekend, will see the crowing of South Africa’s top U/15 football team.  HTS Louis Botha School will be carrying the hopes of the Free State province after they emerged as Copa Coca-Cola® provincial champions in August.  The team will, without a doubt, be looking to impress on home soil and will be out to claim the title and the R80 000 prize that goes with it.

The road to the national finals saw HTS Louis Botha beat Samuel Johnson and Diamante Hoogte in the group stages of the Free State provincial finals before taking on Bongani-Lebohang High School in the final where they used their home ground advantage to outclass their rivals in a 2-0 win to retain their Copa Coca-Cola Provincial title.

HTS Louis Botha team manager, Kgosi Molokwane said: “We are very excited to represent Free State and the city of Bloemfontein at this year’s Copa Coca-Cola® National Finals. Our boys have worked very hard to get to the finals.  We therefore encourage the whole of Bloemfontein to come and cheer them on as they take on their football counterparts from across the country.”

In addition to HTS Louis Botha, Free State will have another representative at the Copa Coca-Cola national finals in Tshepang Tsolo from Welkom High School. Tshepang will be taking the field as a member of the esteemed Copa Coca-Cola ‘Which Part Will You Play’ all-star team.

The all-star team is made up of 11 different archetypes (chosen to match the characteristics needed to form the perfect team) namely; The Heart, The Mastermind, The Perfectionist, The Rebel, The Machine, The Legend, The Rock, The Artist, The Underdog, The Impossible and The Joker.

The team will take on Bloemfontein Celtic’s academy side as a curtain raiser to the 2016 Copa Coca-Cola® final.

Fetsi Mbele, Coca-Cola South Africa’s Senior Communications Manager: Brand Experience commented.

“Coca-Cola is proud to support the development of football in South Africa through the Copa Coca-Cola U/15 football tournament. SASFA’s Local Organising Committee in Bloemfontein has done a great job in getting ready for the national finals, setting us up for a weekend of exciting football.  I urge the Bloemfontein footballing community to come down and support our future soccer stars.”

The Copa Coca-Cola national finals hosted by Coca-Cola, in conjunction with the South African Schools Football Association (SASFA), will be held at Tempe Stadium in Bloemfontein from 23-25 September 2016.
