Cashtime coy on Smashis’ reunion: He’s a hommie
A little part of us broke a few years back when Smashis seemed to leave popular record company Cashtime Life to become an independent artist. But could he soon be making a return?
Speaking to Hype magazine early last year, the rapper seemed to hint that his relationship with K.O and the crew had become distant and slightly strained after he decided to focus on his solo career.
So imagine fans surprise this week when the rapper featured prominently in behind the scenes snaps of K.O’s new music video for his track Korruption.
Soon fans started speculating that Smashis could be heading back to the label.
A friend of Smashis told TMG Entertainment that the rapper was surprised to receive a call from K.O to feature on the video but went in order to show his support.
Speaking to TMG Entertainment on Thursday, Cashtime boss Thabiso Khati wouldn’t be drawn on the speculation, only saying that the company’s relationship with Smashis is the same as it’s always been and that they see him as a friend and hommie.
“Smashis has always been a friend. He’s a hommie. We are cool with him,” Thabiso said.
He went on to explain that whether Smashis was officially on the company’s roster or not was not as important as the fact that he often shares advice with the team and is seen by them as part of the family.
