FS derby on the cards for NFD

The Eastern Free State can brace itself for a local National First Division (NFD) derby clash, as the African Warriors take on the Carara Kicks at the Charles Mopeli Stadium this Sunday.

The clash will prove an interesting one with the Warriors looking to rise through the rankings and hopefully compete in the looming NFD playoff stage where the league’s top four teams will compete for promotion into the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

The Warriors lie seventh on the log, with 40 points, and may find themselves inching closer to a position in the top four if they win this weekend. However, the QwaQwa outfit have dropped points in their two previous matches, managing to gain only a single point.

The Warriors lost 3-2 to Witbank Aces and subsequently registered a 1-1 draw at home against Blackburn Rovers last week.

Kicks, on the other hand, lie eleventh on the log with 32 points and do not stand a chance of making it into the playoffs. However, they have managed to accumulate an impressive eight points out of a possible 12 in their last four fixtures and will be keen to continue their good run with a three-point victory target against the Warriors.

The match kick-off is at 15:00.
