Fashion at SOPA … Health MEC Fezi Ngubentombi stole the limelight at the State of the Province Address.
Fashion at this year’s State of the Province Address was just as vibrant as the dazzling plans announced for economic growth in the province.
Members of the legislature gracefully stepped onto the red carpet rolled out for them at the Vista Arena in Bloemfontein ahead of Premier Ace Magashule’s big address. Custom-made dresses and bespoke designer suits were the order of the day.
Health MEC Fezi Ngubentombi stole the limelight and had photographers and journalists in the palm of her hand. She was the epitome of a goddess turning heads and literally stopping traffic in a gold almost figure hugging number.
Portfolio committee chairperson of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Olly Mlamleli, was blooming in powder pink from top to bottom, except for her shoes. She kept it classic and simple; her outfit complementing her bubbly personality.
Outside the streets were barricaded with heavy security and policemen were ready to round up any troublemakers.
A small crowd gathered outside and stood gawking; trying their best to catch a glimpse of their favourite best-dressed VIP. Asked if they were interested in the arrival of the VIPs, a woman among the group said:
“Wow! Mme Fezi is definitely hot; she takes the title for me,” said Mampho.
Dressed in best … VIPs sparkled ahead of the State of the Province Address in Bloemfontein this week.
Forget colour blocking, purple is definitely the new black thanks to ANC secretary Sibongile Besani who wore a Juju-inspired violet/light purple tailored suit, which made him stand out from the rest.
Mangaung Metro Municipality Mayor Thabo Manyoni might have forgotten his tie at home, but not the first lady; she complemented the mayor’s simple look with an elegant blue silk number.
It was a fashion parade for the best dressed, whilst others wore outfits that were not that becoming – donning doily dresses and satellite dish inspired hats.
On a lighter note, Sasco leader Tom Thabane said other than listening to the speech, SOPA is a great place to look for sugar mommies.
For Legislature Deputy Speaker Ouma Tsopo you are what you drive; her sports car did her “fashion talk” for her.
The exclusive event was also attended by the likes of ex-Generations star Seputla, Muvhango actor Ranthumeng, Tshepo Tshola, and kwaito legend Mdu.
Photographers also snapped shots of MEC Seiso Mohai and his charming wife, who were both dressed in lime, with hints of brown.
Mpho Sikisi wore an African inspired gown, while Nthabiseng Mokotjo raised pulses with a tattoo of a rose on her left breast; looking smashing hot in a black and white outfit.
Next year’s SOPA fashion will be a hard act to follow.
