Three-day party … The Divine DJ is teaming up with Black Coffee for this year’s Oscar Nite at Phillip Saunders Resort.
Bloemfontein’s Oscar Nite has become one of the most highly anticipated events on the local social calendar.
It is renowned for its exclusive nature, a line-up of the best artists, and for being a night of glamour, style, and elegance.
The annual yellow carpet event encompasses the same spirit as Hollywood’s Academy Awards which are held at the end of February each year.
The concept was born in 2005 when the Divine DJ’s birthday party was an annual highlight for thousands of serious party-goers.
In 2009, at the then News Cafe in Bloemfontein, the party attracted over 3 000 people during the three-day affair.
The following year, the first instalment of The Divine DJ’s Oscar Nites was launched at Bloem Spa. It was hosted the following year at Ilanga Estate.
The third annual Oscar Nite party will be held at the newly renovated Phillip Saunders Resort this year.
“Bloemfontein has a lot of scenic beauty that still needs to be explored. This town has a lot to offer. We want to be unpredictable. We don’t believe in repeating venues. We are going to be the first people to host such an event at Phillip Saunders Pleasure Resort and we are looking forward to taking people on a glamorous journey with us,” said event organiser Mavusana Nkosi, aka The Divine DJ. This year’s Oscar Nite will be an epic three-day event.
The Oscar Nite Pre-Party will be held at AfroVibe and it will feature a range of national artists on March 9.
On the day of the event, March 10, there will be a Comedy Show at 18:00 which will be followed by the main event that will be hosted at Phillip Saunders. The following day there will be an All White Pool Party starting at 10:00 at the same venue as the main event.
The line-up includes Micassa, Black Coffee, Vinny Da Vincy, Lulo Café, China, Nana, Zino, Claude, Spike, Miggs, Glen Star, Sfate, EMI, Shaxe, Thiwe, and Tonic Solfa.
According to Nkosi, it has always been a dream of his to bring together these artists under one roof.
“The reason why I always put Black Coffee on the line-up is because we share a birthday and we decided to combine them and throw one big party. He couldn’t make it last as year as Oscar Nite clashed with his tour to Miami, but this year he will be joining us. There are a lot of surprises for this year and we are looking forward to raising the bar once more.”
