Muvhango actress in cat fight

We look back at celebrity prima donnas who kept us entertained with their scandals and petty fights

Raunchy Muvhango actress, Phindile Gwala, became the centre of attention at a party with her translucent dress and a catfight with her boyfriend’s ex.

If you met Gwala in the streets, chances are you would give her one glance and move on without recognising her familiar face. This is not because she is cosmetically challenged, but because the actress, who plays Thuli’s sister, Nonny, in the SABC2 soapie Muvhango, is a master of disguise.

This is precisely what happened in April at a local guest house called White House, in Bloemfontein’s opulent suburb of Heuwelsig; where government official, Peter Mokhothu, threw a lavish party to celebrate his 40th birthday.

The actress, who rocked up incognito wearing sunglasses plus a coat and high heels, was completely unrecognisable, until she (literally) blew her cover porn queen-style, bringing unwanted attention to her rather subdued Johannesburg boyfriend, Martin.

‘Nonny’, as Gwala is known to her fans, could not stay cocooned forever. She jumped out of her shell, shed off her coat and went on to steal the party limelight when she took to the dance floor in a blue mini dress revealing panties the colour of her skin that elaborately outlined the forbidden fruit.

The Weekly is in possession of all the photos of her raunchy movements that left little to the imagination.

That turned out to be just a prelude. On returning to her table, she found her beau in the company of an ex-girlfriend, who is believed to be based in Bloemfontein.

The actress lost her cool there and then and she traded whacks with the Bloemfontein girl, and the whole party turned into a scene from one of those gladiator shows. The ensuing commotion did not last long, though, as other guests were quick to separate the two amazons.
