On arrival at the scene, police found a body of a woman lying on the ground, half naked waist downwards with only a T-shirt on her upper body.
The weekend came to a screeching halt in Bronville on Sunday morning when a lifeless body of a woman, was found under a tree.
Angry community members have blamed foreign residents for the brutal murder and called on police to clamp down on illegal immigrants who are involved in crime in the area.
“We do not feel safe anymore in our own neighbourhoods because we do not know who lives amongst us anymore, we do not know who to protect ourselves from.
What happened to this poor woman was inhumane and we need assurance from the police that these animals will be put behind bars, away from society,” said a community member Jackey Botes who was present at the scene of the gruesome discovery, .
Botes said he and his family were passing by the Bronville Funeral Parlour on their way to church, when they came across the woman’s body, and immediately called the police.
According to police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Malebo Khosana, Bronville police officer, Constable Sidwell Lottiering, who was patrolling the streets at that time immediately attended to the call in Watermeyer Street at about 08:40.
He said Bronville police are investigating a murder case.
“Prior to the discovery of the brutally murdered woman, Constable Lottiering received a complaint to attend to an incident near the Bronville Funeral Parlour. On arrival at the scene he found a body of a woman lying on the ground.
She was half naked waist downwards with only a T-shirt on her upper body.
“Her head was crushed with a big stone found on the scene, which made it difficult to identify the deceased. The body was taken to the mortuary for a postmortem to determine whether she was raped or not,” added Khosana.
He added that there were no witnesses among the bystanders on the scene and no information about what happened before this unknown woman was killed has come to the attention of the police. The suspects are still at large and police are still conducting investigations.
“We make an urgent appeal to anybody who might shed light that will help in tracing and arresting the suspects who committed such a vulgar crime.
