Celebrations to mark Mother’s Day in Matjhabeng started on Friday last week, when women from different sectors were treated to a glamorous lunch and gift exchange.
This was an initiative of the Women’s Network team of the Thabong SAPS Cluster which is made up of Bronville, Henneman, Thabong, Ventersburg, Meloding and Virginia police stations.
“As women of the SAPS we understand that it is not easy to have a career and be a mother and a wife at the same time. Multi-tasking is something that we were not born with but had to learn the hard way. Therefore, when we have the opportunity to uplift and encourage our mothers, we grab it with both hands,” explained Thabong Cluster Women’s Network Champion Lady, Cynthia Molale.
She said the women from the Meloding SAPS were treated to a braai, while the women from the Virginia SAPS were treated to lunch at Tikwe Lodge in Virginia.
The Bronville SAPS Women’s Network celebrated Mother’s Day by donating food parcels to three mothers who were identified from the area. Afterwards, the mothers who work at the station were treated to lunch at Mustang and also exchanged gifts and discussed the challenges they faced as working mothers.
Thabong, Henneman and Ventersburg Women’s Network will have their Mother’s Day celebrations during this week.
“During the outings, what we wanted to encourage is a relationship between fellow women, because only a woman will know what you are going through and can assist if it is necessary,” said Molale.
Molale said the ladies were asked to buy a gift and during the event each woman’s name was put into a hat for them to exchange gifts.
They also had an interaction session where they were shared ideas about how to juggle work and family life.
The Virginia SAPS Women’s Network also invited the deputy chairperson of the community policing forum (CPF) Marie Moolman, who was the special guest for the day.
“This initiative will boost the morale of the employees and motivate them to work wholeheartedly knowing that as mothers the Women’s Network SAPS supports and understands their challenges,” said Moolman.
