Accounting firm rewards hardworking student

Bloemfontein based auditing firm, Newtons Chartered Accountants, has rewarded University of the Free State student, Iziwe Mameza, with an Apple Ipod for participating and winning the company’s annual Lucky draw competition.

The competition is aimed at encouraging University of the Free State accounting students to understand their field of work before completing their studies.

Newtons administration manager, Anze Pienaar, said the competition is meant to motivate students to work hard and do well in their studies.

“I would like to congratulate our winner for this year and hope that he will do well this year. We also hope that in future we will be able to hire some of these students after realising that the province lacks qualified people in this field. This is our way of trying to help motivate students in ensuring that the province has the best qualified accountants in the future,” said Pienaar.

The second year Bcom Accounting student said the Ipod will help him prepare for exams.

“I have never won anything in my life before and I believe that I will do well this year in my studies. I would also like to thank Newtons for making me believe that I can achieve great things in life. I also promise not to disappoint,” said Mameza.
