Drotskè wants Cheetahs to refocus

Cheetahs coach, Naka Drotskè, wants his side to put the loss against the Hurricanes behind them and focus on upcoming crucial matches

The Toyota Free State Cheetahs coach, Naka Drotskè, wants his team to focus on their prospective matches and put last week’s home loss against the Hurricanes behind them.

Drotskè believes the team still has ample opportunity to regain their moment in the upcoming five remaining fixtures and said his team needs to utilise their home game advantages more efficiently, going forward.

“It is still a long season; there is still a lot to happen and we need to learn that in this competition you have to pitch up mentally right and play for 85 minutes.

“We need to refocus. We’ve got five games left and three of those games are in Bloemfontein; and one away against the Kings in Port Elizabeth, and one against the Stormers in Cape Town. Therefore there is still a lot that can happen because the Bulls still have to play the Sharks twice and also have to play the Stormers at Newlands,” said Drotskè.

He further urged his players not to lose their confidence ahead of the match against the Reds tomorrow.

“It is very important that we keep our heads and start focusing on the Reds; it’s a home game for us and we always play well in Bloemfontein against them. But it is not going to be easy they are a very good team and have only a few negatives.”

Drotskè said none of his players sustained serious injuries against the Hurricanes. There were, however, a few injury scares in the match, but Drotskè assured that the players will be ready for the Reds fixture.

“Injuries are looking good; I guess it is also another positive for us. Raymond (Rhule) and Willie (Le Roux) suffered minor cramps (against the Hurricanes) and there are no other serious injuries.”

The Cheetahs versus Reds match will take place tomorrow in Bloemfontein at 19:10.
