CARS STOLEN AT FEZILE DABI BENEFIT CONCERT

Two cars were stolen during the Fezile Dabi HIV/AIDS Benefit Concert in Abrahamsrust, Sasolburg, last weekend.

Police spokesperson, Peter Kareli, said the two cars, both Ford Lasers, were stolen on Sunday morning.

“On Sunday 2012-12-02, at approximately 01:00, the Sasolburg police received a call from a complainant who reported that his vehicle had gone missing at the Abrahamsrust resort.

“On arrival we met with the caller and while we were busy helping him, the second victim approached the police also with a similar complaint. Both complainants mentioned that they had parked their vehicles after entering the resort and on their return they found the vehicles missing,” said Kareli.

He said despite cordoning off the area, they could not trace the cars.

“We searched around the buzzing resort in an attempt to locate the two vehicles but to no avail.  The two stolen vehicles are both Ford Laser’s with the following registration numbers:  CZF 487 GP (White) and FCP 925 FS (Blue).

Any person who might know or have any information must please contact Sasolburg SAPS on 016 970 1000/2,” said Kareli.

Earlier, before the latter incident, the Zamdela police had arrested a man suspected of killing a 57-year-old man in the Walter Sisulu township, for refusing to buy him a beer.

Kareli said they were notified of an altercation between the two men in the area.

“We received a call that two men were fighting at the area. We then found that one of them had been killed. He was stabbed in the chest with a knife and was lying in a pool of blood.”

The two had been drinking together at a local tavern. Witnesses said the suspect demanded that the victim buy him beer.

One Themba Fakude told The Weekly that a quarrel ensued and the deceased was stabbed to death by the suspect.

“That guy tried to force the old man to buy him a beer but he refused, saying he can’t buy child a beer. Suddenly the suspect took out a knife and stabbed the deceased once in the chest.  The deceased tried to run home but he fell and died instantly near his house’s gate.”

Fakude said the suspect had been aggressive the whole day and was swearing at the victim throughout.

“He was extremely vicious as he uttered profanities at the old man. He said he was doing that because the deceased had been ridiculing him and spreading lies about him. He then ran away and cops tried to locate him but they couldn’t find him.”

Kareli said the 27-year-old suspect was still at large.

“He is still at large but D/Cst Leornard Moalosi revealed that he is known in the community and his identity will be revealed as soon as all the necessary documents are already filled.”
