Entrepreneur launches African cuisine restaurant

The experienced caterer has promised her customers sumptuous meals, welcoming décor and warm ambience

Bubbly Kealeboga Lebusho has proved that the City of Roses is alive with possibilities, having launched her restaurant on Monday.

Newly operational the @restaurant is situated in the Capitec building opposite Totalsports Middestad in town, and serves African cuisine.

The owner of the restaurant told The Weekly that the eatery is an idea she had conceived for a long time.

“The diner has been an idea for decades; it was only a matter of time before we put it in to practice,” explained Lebusho.

Lebusho, who started selling pap and meat at the taxi rank, said she always knew she was destined for greater things.

“We all have to start somewhere, and the taxi rank was a stepping stone for me. I used to take nutritious food to the streets and, look what has it done for me,” said Lebusho.

The restaurant can accommodate quite a number of guests, making it an ideal place to hosts any lifestyle event.

The menu comprises, among others, beef stew, mutton stew, chicken curry, tripe, pap, rice, samp, dumpling and an assortment of delectable salads.

“We strictly serve African cuisine, we can tell that the place is definitely going to be the talk of the town.”

She chose the centre of town simply because it is where the bucks are.

“This is our local Sandton, exactly where there’s lots of business,” giggled Lebusho.

Lebusho, who has also done a lot of catering in Bloem, said the experience she has gained over the years has prepared for this breakthrough.

“I have catered for the annual beach party, the recent all-white party that was hosted by Club 808, and Pimp My Ride.”

She said business runs in the family; the Lebusho name is a brand on its own.

“We have a family business, Lebusho Market, where we do things as a family and support one other.

“I guess it’s safe to say it runs through my veins. I used to watch my grandmother wake up at 4:00am to prepare dibeko (fat cakes) which she sold by the street to people going to work in the morning,” she added.

Lebusho said the restaurant is the ultimate place for business meetings or people to unwind. With its African vibe, the restaurant is draped with minimal art on the walls that makes one to feel at home.
