A new Amapiano single by a Zastron based DJ titled ‘Expensive’ is gaining traction and creating a buzz on social media.
It seems with the new offering Nhlanhla Mashabane, 29, also known by his stage name Sir Nhlekeza, has hit the right cord.
Sir Nhlekeza said he has been amazed by the hype and support behind his track, days after its release.
The single features other Zastron based artists including Siphokazi Sikele (BlackGoddes), Kabelo Mfetsela (Kay Master), and producers Sefako Mathapo (Sir Hail), and Thabang Leanya (Major Vernacular).
Music fans have been left speechless by this masterpiece, crafted on the dusty streets of Matlakeng.
Sir Nhlekeza said he was hoping to inspire young people in Zastron by showing them that they can achieve anything regardless of their geographic situation or background.
“Music has always been my passion and I have always been producing music for many years. The music industry is a hard nut to crack and for one to make it takes a miracle,” he noted.
The artist indicated he was inspired by the passion he saw in his colleagues and some two young vocalists, and decided to use one of the beats he had created for fun.
He pointed out, “At first I was a bit sceptical that it might be something people won’t like but after recording, people started applauding it and we reworked and released the song.”
Sir Nhlekeza is hoping his song can be streamed and downloaded by many people for his talent to be heard and inspire others with similar ambitions.
“In Zastron we have so many talented young people, all we need is an opportunity to be recognised and given a platform to excel in what we good at,” he added.
BlackGoddes and Kay Master who are featured on the single as vocalists also expressed their enthusiasm and the recognition they are getting from music musos across the town and beyond.
“I have always been a music lover from a very young age. I find happiness and peace through music. All I wanted to do was to sing and be heard by others, either educating or comforting someone, that’s how much music means to me. I have never received such love from fans and seeing people being moved by my voice meant everything to me,” said BlackGoddes.
Kay Master weighed in, “For me, I see music as an escape from poverty. I see entertaining people as a means to support my family. I know my love for music can take me further in life and that’s all I want.”

The local DJ said he will release his second single titled ‘Road to Matlakeng’ on March 27.
