Twasa up for Viewers’ Choice Award

Veteran radio personality Seipati “Twasa” Seoke who was crowned queen of breakfast radio at the 2019 Liberty Radio Awards is up for another nod, this time for favorite radio personality.

The nomination sees the 41-year-old battle it out against Mzansi’s best radio hosts, and fans hope Twasa, as she affectionately known, walks away with the honours in what is believed to be one of the toughest categories.

The category sees the Qwa-Qwa born star go up against other greats DJ Fresh (947 FM), Kgomotso Matsunyane (Kaya FM),   Siphiwo ‘Spitch’ Nzawumbi (Umhlobo Wenene) and Khathide ‘Tshatha’ Ngobe (Ukhozi FM).

The 3rd Mzansi Magic DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards (DMVCA) ceremony will be broadcast live on March 14 from the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg. They seek to honour the biggest achievers across 11 entertainment categories.

The channel announced the nominees on Thursday last week, with Prince Kaybee leading with three nominations for Favourite Song of the Year, Favourite DJ and Favourite Music Artist or Group. This was followed with two nominations each for Kabza De Small, for Favourite DJ and Favourite Rising Star, Sjava (Favourite Song of the Year and Favourite Music Artist or Group); and Sho Madjozi for Favourite Music Artist or Group and Favourite Personality.

Speaking about her nomination, Twasa said, “I personally never felt the desire to neglect my home language because of the industry I am in. It is who I am, so I will carry it with me wherever I go and I always encourage people to do the same.”

Mzansi Magic acting channel director Shirley Adonis said: “As the number one provider of local entertainment in Africa, we are immensely proud of the growth of our industry, and we are fully committed to celebrating our local stars, and we congratulate all of this year’s nominees.”

For the first time, the public will be able to purchase tickets to attend the event, MultiChoice SA chief customer officer Simon Camerer said.
