Time To Build Strong FS Media Industry

Leaders in the television and media industry will gather at Bloemfontein Civic Theatre with local players to share ideas around building a strong media industry in the Free State.

According to Monyane Tekateka, head of communication at Career Guide Network (CGN), ttthe organisers, the engagement seeks to find explore ways of building a strong television industry in the Free State.

“We intended to do this one brick at a time; let us lay that first brick with knowledge. We want all creatives who are serious about making a living from their talents to come to the classroom and empower themselves, greatness will never be given to you, we must fetch it” Monyane Tekateka head of communications CGN.

Under the theme “The Television  Classroom” the event will feature some of the television industry’s largest and most relevant producers and directors as well as people in the creative educational space.

Speakers like Tebogo Mahlatsi of Bomb Productions who is a Cannes Lions and SAFTA award-winning filmmaker and the director behind some memorable TV commercials, music videos, movies, and television series will be among the keynote speakers.

Mahlatsi is also ranked as the 2nd best Director In Africa and the Middle East in 2019.

Also keynote speaker, Legend Manqele founder of Barleader TV who produced the SAFTAS red carpet and shows like  Living the dream with Somizi, Being Bonang, and is also the new publisher for DESTINY Magazine will also be present.

Rounding off the panel will be Kutlwano Ditsele who is the co-founder SERITI FILMS and has had a hand in shows like Isibaya, Ayeye, Zone 14, The Road and more recently, The Herd on Mzansi Magic.

The Panel will be moderated By Nkox Leader from the CUTFM

“The main theme for the day will center around how to monetize content that we make as Free State creatives and also how to place our work on the main stage,” said Tekateka.

The event is brought to you by CTC college and the Bar leader production company as an investment into the Free State creative scene.

The Classroom will also be streamed on Facebook on pages called @CGN career guide network and Clean slate.

“Let us start to build the television industry of the free state one brick at a time and let us lay that first brick with knowledge. We want all creatives who are serious about making a living from their talents to come to the classroom and empower themselves, greatness will never be given to you, we must fetch it”  concluded Tekateka.
