Our own… Celtic supporters are calling for the reinstatement of Pule Malebo, the team’s Supporters Lining Officer.
Bloemfontein Celtic National Executive Committee (NEC) national chairperson Mabena Pule has confirmed that a letter has been written to the team’s management demanding answers over the sacking of Pule Malebo, who was the supporting lining officer.
“We view this decision as an attack on supporters,” said Mabena Pule, adding: “Once you terminate the line of communication between us as supporters and management, it means the objective is to phase out the supporters’ structure completely and this can not happen.”
Mabena noted Malebo’s role and commitment to the club he loves so much can never be questioned. “He has given much to the club and continues to do so at so many levels.”
Angered by the decision to sack one of their own, the supporters have embarked on a campaign titled ‘No Malebo. No Supporters’ which has taken social media by storm.
Mabena said this was done precisely because supporters want to send a clear message to the management that any attempt to elbow out supporters will not be tolerated.
“We have said before that if these people (management) want to leave the team, they should do so without messing it up. When they bought this club, supporters’ structures were still intact therefore any attempt that seeks to undermine this is rejected,” added Mabena.
Asked what transpired between him and the management, the outspoken Malebo said, “It’s not my place to speak on this matter. Both the management and supporters NEC is best suited to speak on the matter, not me.”
The club’s CEO Khumbulani Konco also did not want to speak on the issue, only saying: “There is a management and supporters meeting taking place next week. All these issues will be put on the table during that meeting and we are not going saying anything prior to it.”
The meeting will be followed by a supporters’ general meeting on Sunday, which will serve as feedback on various issues, including the club’s financial status.
