‘Ba2cada’ case set for trial

The state says it is ready to take the matter against Lesedi FM’s a Nyakallo ‘Ba2cada’ Leine to trial.

This was revealed by State prosecutor, Advocate Wellington Zamubuntu Sampisi who told the Bloemfontein Regional Court on Monday that the state is ready for plea and trial proceedings in the matter.

Magistrate Collen Nekosie postponed the matter between Leine and the state to July 9, 2021 for plea and trial.

The breakfast show presenter is accused of defrauding South African Revenue Services (SARS) of about R1,7 million between 2014 and 2018.

The award-winning presenter was arrested by the Hawks after they reported him to the authorities over suspicions of fraudulent activities. He is out on R5 000 bail.

Leine earlier responded to his arrest and said he would prove that he does not make a lot of money as it has been alleged.

He conceded to having tax issues returns, saying he was more than ready to prove his case to the state and finally clear his name of any wrong doing.

Fans have expressed support for the popular presenter who has captured the hearts of many since his arrival at the station.
