Prominent Welkom resident Tshepile Martin Sempe who passed away on Sunday at the Bongani Hospital in Thabong will be laid to rest tomorrow (Sat).
A memorial service for the late Sempe was held yesterday at the Thabong Community Centre ahead of his burial at Welkom Graveyard.
He is survived by his two children, Thembi and Letlotlo, three sisters, and a grandchild.
Sempe was a darling of many and was well-known for assisting pupils in the area with school uniforms and fees. He also helped students with extra classes in Mathematics and Science subjects.
The giant with a big heart, who was a member of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa, will further be fondly remembered for assisting many young people realise their business dreams.
As a community builder, he was always assisting families with problems, such as burial and other social challenges.
Also revered for his fight for justice, Sempe was born on August 30, 1970 in Thabong.
He started his schooling at Tswelopele Primary School and did his secondary education at Lebogang High School before furthering his education at Wits University and UNISA.
