Hlaudi’s Reality TV In Motion

Hlaudi Motsoeneng may be the latest Zaleb to get his own reality show.

The ex SABC big-wig turned politician has been offered a deal by DStv channel Moja Love to give viewers a glimpse into his personal life.

Keabetswe Mokoena’s Prosperita Productions approached Motsoening, who hails from Phuthaditjhaba, Qwa Qwa about a reality TV and wheels are said to be already in motion, despite hush-hush from both the production company and Motsoeneng himself.

The show will follow one of Mzansi’s most controversial – and meme-worthy stars – as he tackles life both in and out of the public eye.

The former SABC chief operating officer, widely known for his sharp tongue, has faced a dismal past few months with his new political party African Content Movement (ACM) flopping in the recent elections.

In a telephonic interview with The Weekly yesterday, Motsoeneng said: “I have been approached and we are looking at making it happen.”

He added: “I’ll be honest with you, a reality show is something that never crossed my mind. Mine has always been a documentary which is far more serious and to a large extent specific and focused. However, while this might not have been on the card for me, I do think it will be interesting both for myself and South Africans at large.”

Motsoeneng, whose mother still resides in Qwa Qwa, would not be drawn into further comment on whether the shooting has begun, only saying: “The wheels are in motion and everything will be made public by both the production company and myself in due course.”

The announcement made earlier this month drew positive reactions from South Africans, who mainly gave the idea thumbs up, with some suggesting it would possibly be the best reality show in Mzansi due to Motsoening’s humour.

While some continue to view him as a clown, the ex SABC boss who speaks his mind out is less affected by the remarks. “People are entitled to their opinions be they be stupid or not, it’s theirs, they are entitled to it and must be respected,” he noted.

A Hlaudi reality show would give viewers a glimpse into his colorful life alongside his family, which includes his two beautiful daughters.
